Privacy policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
The short version
- Fair Football keeps what a coach needs to run a children's team, and uses it for nothing else.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and no selling or sharing data for marketing.
- Coaches decide what goes in. Children are recorded by first name and initials, and everything shared outside the team uses initials only.
- A family link shows one child, to that child's family, and nothing about anyone else's child beyond their initials.
- Coaches can delete a match, a team or their whole account in the app at any time.
Who we are
Fair Football is an app for grassroots football coaches, for iPhone and the web. It's made and run by Guilherme Cabride Neto, an independent developer in the United Kingdom ("we" on this page). For anything about privacy, email contact@fairfootball.app.
This policy covers the Fair Football app, the family pages coaches share, and this website.
What we keep, and why
Your coach account
When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, your email address and an ID for your Google account. We keep these so you can sign in, so the other coaches in your team can see who you are, and so we can help if you contact us. We also keep which teams you belong to and whether you own each one or coach it.
Signing in gives your phone or browser a random key. We store only a scrambled copy of it, with when it was made and last used, so we can tell it's you. A key stops working after 180 days without use, and you can sign out of your other devices from the Account page.
Your team
Coaches type in the team's details, so a team holds whatever they enter. That's normally:
- the team's name, and each child's first name, initials and the positions they like to play;
- matches: opponent, date and time, home or away, the pitch's address and the type of match;
- who's going, who turned up, lineups, substitutions, minutes played, the result, and things like goals, saves and tackles;
- coaches' notes, a match summary, a comment and something to work on for each child, and who was worth a mention;
- when a child played less, the reason the coach picked (for example injured, unwell, arrived late or left early) and an optional note.
We keep this to run the app for the team: to suggest fair lineups, count minutes, show the season and build reports. Only the team's coaches can see it. The coaches, or their club, decide what's recorded; we store it for them and don't use it for anything else.
Photos
Coaches can add match photos. Before a photo leaves the phone or browser it's shrunk and saved again, which also removes hidden details such as where it was taken. Photos are stored with the match, are only shown to the team's coaches, and are left out of reports and family pages.
Family links and messages
A coach can make a private link for one child and send it to that child's family. Anyone with the link can see that child's page, without an account. The page shows the coach's comments and what to work on for that child, the things they did well, and match summaries in which every other child appears as initials. It never shows minutes, positions, notes, photos or reasons for less time.
For each link we keep a random key, which child it's for and when it was last opened. Families can send the coach a short message from the page; we keep the message, which child it's about and when it was sent, with the team. A coach can switch a link off at any time.
On your phone or in your browser
The app keeps a copy of your team on your device so it works with a poor signal at the pitch, and holds changes until it can send them. On iPhone your sign-in key is kept in the Keychain; in a browser it's kept in the browser's storage. Your colour choice stays on the device.
Substitution and end-of-quarter alerts, and the match clock on the iPhone lock screen, are set up on the phone itself. We don't send push notifications. The pitch address is passed to your maps app only when you tap Directions.
Keeping the service safe
To stop people guessing sign-in details or flooding the server, the app counts requests from each internet address for a minute at a time, in memory only. These addresses aren't written down or kept. If something goes wrong, the server logs the error so we can fix it; it doesn't keep a log of visits or internet addresses.
When you email us
Email to contact@fairfootball.app is forwarded by Cloudflare to our Gmail inbox. We use what you send only to reply and help, and keep it only as long as we need to.
This website
fairfootball.app sets no cookies and runs no analytics or scripts. Cloudflare, which serves it, handles your internet address to deliver the pages.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no ad or analytics tools in the app or on this website.
- No tracking you across other apps or websites.
- No selling, renting or sharing information for marketing.
- No public profiles, leaderboards or rankings of children.
- No using your team's information to train AI or build profiles.
Children's information
Fair Football is for the adults who coach children's teams. Children don't use it and can't make accounts. Because it holds information about children, it's built to need as little as possible: first names and initials, nothing like dates of birth, addresses or contact details for children or their families. Reports and shared text use initials only, and family pages show one child each.
A reason such as "injured" or "unwell" is information about a child's health. The app only offers short reasons, so coaches don't need to write more than that. Those reasons are used only to work out playing time owed, are seen only by the team's coaches, and never appear in reports or on family pages.
If you're a parent or carer and want something about your child changed or removed, ask the coach. You can also email us and we'll help.
Who else handles information
We use a small number of services to run Fair Football. They handle information only to provide their service to us:
- Cloudflare carries all traffic to the app and this website, protects them from attacks, and forwards our email.
- Google signs you in if you choose Google, and hosts the inbox for emails you send us.
- Apple provides the App Store and the iPhone features the app uses. We don't receive payment details.
- Backblaze B2 stores our offsite backups. They're encrypted on our server before they're sent, so Backblaze can't read them.
- Open-Meteo gives the weather forecast for a match. To find where it is, our server sends the match's address to postcodes.io (for a UK postcode) or to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim, then sends that place and the match's date to Open-Meteo. Nothing about the team, the children or the coaches goes with them, and the requests come from our server, not your phone.
Fair Football's database itself runs on our server in the United Kingdom. Some of these services may handle information outside the UK. When they do, they use the safeguards UK data protection law requires. We'll share information with others only if the law requires it.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
- A match or photo is removed from the server as soon as a coach deletes it.
- A team is kept until its owner deletes it (Team menu, then Account, then Delete team). Its matches, photos, family links, messages and invite links go with it, straight away.
- Your account is kept until you delete it (Team menu, then Account, then Delete account). If you're the only owner of a team, hand it to another coach or delete it first.
- Invite links for coaches stop working after 7 days.
- Backups roll off by themselves. The database is copied every night and those copies are kept on the server for a week; before an update we take an extra copy, kept for 30 days. Every night, encrypted copies also go to Backblaze B2, which keeps one a day for a week, one a week for a month and one a month for six months. So something deleted in the app can stay in a backup for up to about six months. Backups are only ever used to restore the service after a problem.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or send it to you in a format you can reuse. You can also object to how we use it. Email contact@fairfootball.app; we'll reply within one month. For a team's information, the team's coaches can usually change or delete it fastest, but we'll help either way.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Our legal reasons
- Your account and your team's information: to provide the app you've asked to use.
- Keeping the service safe and fixing problems: our legitimate interest in running a secure, working app.
- Information about children, including any health reasons: we hold it for the coaches and club running the team, to provide the app to them. They're responsible for having a good reason to record it.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts keeping something new, or we change who handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top first.
